SHC Use of Phones

SHC Use of Phones

20 July 2020

Kia ora whānau

Welcome back to Term 3, we are really looking forward to a productive term with all our students.

This term we are implementing processes that address the concerns from staff, students, and the wider community regarding the use of phones at school.

Specifically, we want to:

  • Educate students, staff and parents about the appropriate use of phones and social media
  • Decrease student screen time

We appreciate that there is not going to be one solution or approach to this issue and the attached table details some of the activities that will be happening from the beginning of Term 3 click here for table.

Our aim is to protect our students while at the same time guide them to learn and develop the competencies and values to keep themselves and others safe online.

Of note in particular is our phone free Wednesday – please discuss this with your student.

Every Wednesday students and staff will not be using their phones out of the classroom, they will be used as a learning tool only if necessary during class time.

We will take this opportunity to interact in different ways with each other.

As always, thank you for your support and contact me if you would like to discuss this plan further.

Ngā mihi
